Fierceness at the Cambridge Public Library
Ann Aguirre, Marie Rutkoski and I fielded questions on our latest Fierce Reads panel at the Cambridge Public Library yesterday under the aegis of teen librarian Julie Roach. Topics included imperialism, slavery, reality TV shows, bullying, and writing advice. When I asked any writers in the audience to raise their hands, nearly every single person did, and it was so cool. Special thanks to Julie for her warm hospitality and great… Continue reading
Lively Tour Stop at Water Street Bookstore
The Fierce Reads Tour stopped in Exeter, NH last night for some lively conversation and laughs. Beforehand, blogger Lauren James of Love is Not a Triangle tossed us some fun questions, like which were-animals our characters would be. Then we headed over to Water Street Bookstore, where Dan Chartrand welcomed us warmly. One reader had come all the way from Maine for the event, and everyone was… Continue reading
The Vault of Dreamers in the Wild
The Vault of Dreamers goes into the wild today. It’s exciting for me and a bit nerve-wracking, too! I hope readers enjoy Rosie’s story.
I’m also heading out on tour, stopping first at Anderson’s Bookshop in Downers Grove, IL tonight at 7:00 with Marie Rutkoski and Ann Aguirre. My suitcase is packed and I’m waiting for my taxi as I write this.
For another fun thing, the blog tour continues with stops at YA Interrobang and I’d So Rather Be Reading.
Let me… Continue reading
A Happy Launch for The Vault of Dreamers
Thanks to Suzy Staubach and the team at the UConn Coop Bookstore, we had a swell launch for The Vault of Dreamers yesterday afternoon. I was touched that so many dear friends came to celebrate with me, and one of my cousins drove four hours to make the event. After I read the opening chapter, answered questions, and signed copies, I had a chance to visit with people and talk books. It was the perfect way to send my novel off into the wild. A… Continue reading
Boarding School? Sign Me Up.
The boarding school in The Vault of Dreamers doubles as a reality TV show, with cameras everywhere. Since many of us felt like we led a life of scrutiny when we were in high school, even before so many of our schools installed surveillance cameras to cover every corner, the setting of Forge seems almost natural to me. And totally invasive.
Today, the blog tour takes me to Fic Fare, where Erin posts a… Continue reading
Blog Tour, Day 4, And All Is Well
Today, on My Bookish Ways, Kristin invites me to talk a bit about social media, books, and my research for The Vault of Dreamers. I love questions that get me going.
The blog tour also heads over to Working for the Mandroid for Leslie’s frank and insightful review of the novel. Her response to the ending is very much what I was hoping for.
Both sites are offering giveaways as well. Woot!
