Summer Storms

Storm

I love a good storm.  We’ve been getting our share of them here in New England, and when I’m caught out and drenched, I feel more gleeful than stupid.  Sometimes I go out on purpose to stand in the stream at the edge of the road and let the warm rain water trickle over my toes.  I feel like I’m doing something of importance if I can redirect the water with a mini sand dike so it goes toward the storm grate instead of into our yard and onward to our neighbor’s place.

Today I’m curled up with a book, snuggled safe and warm inside, thinking about making cookies.  It’s a day off from writing, with the tinkle of the windchimes and the patter of rain coming in the porch door.  It’s a day to think slowly.
