Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt!<\/p>\n

\"scavenger<\/a>This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck<\/a>\u00a0to give readers a way to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors, and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only access exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue number for the hunt on each site you visit. Add up the clues, and you can enter for the prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours, from October 2-5, 2014.<\/p>\n

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE<\/p>\n

Directions: Below, in my intro to my guest author, Alyxandra Harvey, you’ll notice that I’ve listed my favorite clue number in green<\/span>. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the green team<\/span> by visiting their sites<\/a>, and then add them up.<\/p>\n

Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers,\u00a0fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize<\/a>. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.<\/p>\n

Rules: The hunt is open internationally. Anyone under age 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form<\/a> by Sunday, October 5th, at noon Pacific Time. Today, I am hosting Alyxandra Harvey\u00a0on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt. \u00a0Alyx and I have never met\u00a0in person, but if I had 21<\/span><\/strong> green spiders, I would trade them all for a chance to have a cup of tea with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Author Bio: Alyxandra Harvey lives in a stone house in Ontario, Canada with a few resident ghosts who are allowed to stay as long as they keep company manners. She loves medieval dresses, used to be able to recite all of “The Lady of Shalott” by Tennyson, and has been accused, more than once, of being born in the wrong century. She believes this to be mostly true except for the fact that she really likes running water, women\u2019s rights, and ice cream.<\/p>\n

The phosphorescent dog glowed like moonlight through an icy lake. He proceeded to race in delighted circles around the room, bounding over chairs, sliding across the polished floors, and barking at the peacock feathers wafting out several bronze urns. Gretchen felt slightly less caged by the silk and the stuffiness, and the perfumed air. She could breathe again.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The majority of the guests didn\u2019t notice anything out of the ordinary. A few weeks ago, Gretchen wouldn\u2019t have noticed anything either, never mind been the cause of a wild dog the size of a pony galloping about the room.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last thing she\u2019d expected was for Tobias to address her directly, never mind under the fronds of a potted palm tree. The bright hard blue of his waistcoat matched his eyes. His tone was witheringly disdainful.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cOh, stuff your rules,\u201d she said, mostly because he sounded like her mother. That and she wanted to see just how much she could needle him. She wasn\u2019t disappointed. He straightened, though she hadn\u2019t realized his shoulders actually could go straighter. She\u2019d seen women in too-tight corsets with more malleable spines.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cYou are not a child,\u201d he snapped. \u201cRecall your familiar.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Child, was it? She only barely bit back a reply of \u201cmake me\u201d. Even at seven years old, her brother Godric hadn\u2019t been this infuriating. And he\u2019d been the very devil, whatever he said about her at the same age. She very clearly remembered an incident with molasses and red ants in the drawing room.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Her wolfhound galloped toward them, teeth bared. Gretchen was reluctantly impressed when Tobias didn\u2019t flinch. He barely flicked the wolfhound a glance. She couldn\u2019t see his familiar, but she could feel it. It must be something quite powerful to be sensed even though he hadn\u2019t released it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Damn it. She\u2019d hoped it was something common like a garden rat; something to offend his dignity. He certainly seemed to have a lot of it to offend.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gretchen\u2019s wolfhound sat on her left foot. She refused to recall it completely on principle. Tobias seemed to know as much. He bowed coldly in her direction before stalking away. She watched him go. Her wolfhound growled once. She would have patted his head, if he was a real dog. \u201cMy feelings exactly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
