Schuster Children\u2019s Books UK has come up with a third cover to complete the series.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t this striking and mysterious?\u00a0 The copy reads: \u201cWhen the cost of the freedom of others is your own future, would you pay the ultimate price?\u201d\u00a0 Put that way, it sounds heart-wrenchingly difficult.\u00a0 It fascinates me to see what elements are distilled out of a story to be highlighted on the cover, and I have to admit, that dilemma sits at the crux of the novel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/books.simonandschuster.co.uk\/Promised\/Caragh-M-O'Brien\/9781471118050\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2585\" alt=\"PROMISED.UKcoverforBlog\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/PROMISED.UKcoverforBlog.jpg\" width=\"340\" height=\"516\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/PROMISED.UKcoverforBlog.jpg 340w, https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/PROMISED.UKcoverforBlog-197x300.jpg 197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/a>Ever since I saw the second cover (for <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Prized-Birthmarked-Caragh-M-OBrien\/dp\/0857074954\/ref=pd_sim_b_1\">Prized<\/a><\/em>), with the woman\u2019s face in an evocative, three-quarters turn, I hoped we would see her complete her pivot from profile to full face forward for the third book, and that\u2019s what has happened.\u00a0 It\u2019s so cool to think that Nick Stearn, the cover artist, foresaw this effect years ago, back when he designed the first cover for <i>Birthmarked<\/i>.\u00a0 I like to think he did it to please me, too.\u00a0 I managed to blurt out once when I met him in London that I hoped the third book would resolve this way.\u00a0 Our latest <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/favorites\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0correspondence confirms that he remembered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Birthmarked-Caragh-M-OBrien\/dp\/0857071394\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1303820973&amp;sr=8-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2591\" alt=\"Covers.UK.forBlog\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Covers.UK_.forBlog.png\" width=\"360\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Covers.UK_.forBlog.png 600w, https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Covers.UK_.forBlog-300x153.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a>Myself, I find cover art fascinating, especially when it evolves over a series.\u00a0 I\u2019m delighted with the full set of UK covers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Promised (Birthmarked #3) will be released as an ebook in the UK on Thursday, February 7th, and Simon &amp;
