First stop: the Warren Newport Public Library in Gurnee, IL.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2408\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2408\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2408\" title=\"FierceB\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceB.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceB-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2408\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We spent a lot of time traveling. Media escorts would meet our planes and drive us to our hotels and events. En route, we stopped at additional bookstores to sign stock and snack it up.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2409\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2409\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2409\" title=\"FierceC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A blogger or two would interview us at each stop. Some simply chatted with us. Others, like Lily and Stephanie in Bethesda, came prepared with thought-provoking questions about government, individual responsibility, and world building. Their interviews are appearing online, and links can be found via Twitter with #FierceReads.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2410\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2410\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2410\" title=\"FierceD\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It was lovely to meet so many readers who were passionate about books. They brought their families and stayed to talk. Cover to Cover Books, Columbus.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2412\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2412\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2412\" title=\"FierceE\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceE.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceE.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceE-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of Leigh\u2019s Pennsylvania fans came in a home-made kefta to show her delight in Shadow and Bone.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2413\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2413\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2413 \" title=\"FierceF\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceF.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2413\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We rarely had time to be tourists, but we couldn\u2019t resist a detour to Rowan Oak, William Faulkner\u2019s home. It was steeped in Southern atmosphere.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2414\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2414\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2414\" title=\"FierceG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2414\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A couple of readers like Emily, who is also a writer, skipped their Homecoming Dance to come to our panel in Oxford, MS.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2415\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2415\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2415\" title=\"FierceH\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceH.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After our panels and visiting, we signed stock. The mountain of stock at Off Square Books in Oxford, MS, was the biggest I\u2019ve ever seen. Jill Moore and her crew plied us with brownies, wine, coffee, iced tea, pizza, chips, spinach dip, sweet potato pie, and promises of future fishing trips.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2416\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2416\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2416\" title=\"FierceI\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caraghobrien.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/FierceI.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2416\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We finished up at Books of Wonder in NYC, buddies. The tour vastly exceeded my expectations and I\u2019m so happy I had the chance to go.
