I wrapped it around a copy of BIRTHMARKED to see how it looks. Not bad!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It hit me this weekend that <em>Prized<\/em> is coming out in a month.\u00a0 I\u2019m happy about that, curious and a little anxious, too.\u00a0 The stakes feel higher with the second book because more people are interested in the trilogy now than when <em>Birthmarked<\/em> came out, and the potential to delight or disappoint is proportionately magnified.\u00a0 I\u2019m depending more than ever on the team at Roaring Brook, my editor especially, and I\u2019m trusting they\u2019re only letting us come out with something decent.<\/p>\n<p>We have a few things in the pipeline leading up to the release.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Birthmarked-Trilogy-Caragh-M-OBrien\/dp\/0312674724\/ref=tmm_pap_title_0\" target=\"_blank\">The paperback edition<\/a><\/strong> of <em>Birthmarked<\/em> comes out tomorrow, October 11th.\u00a0 The bonus extras at the back contain some unglamorous photos, an author interview, ten pondering questions, and the first chapter of <em>Prized<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/giveaway\/show\/15730-prized\" target=\"_blank\">giveaway<\/a><\/strong> of a signed copy of <em>Prized<\/em> starts tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m starting a <strong>blog tour<\/strong> on Mundie Moms two weeks from today, on October 24<sup>th<\/sup>, and visiting fifteen more sites, one a day, until <em>Prized <\/em>comes out November 8<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Pulling that together with the bloggers has been a lot of fun so far.\u00a0 We have a <strong>secret code<\/strong> that\u2019s running through the tour, which is a gas, frankly.\u00a0 I love being all secret-code-y.\u00a0 The tour will culminate with an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/group\/show\/56470.CHAT_with_PRIZED_author_Caragh_M_O_Brien_and_Blogger_Friends\" target=\"_blank\">author chat<\/a><\/strong> on Goodreads, where readers can meet up virtually with me and the bloggers to munch virtual cookies.\u00a0 More details about the tour, code and chat will be explained on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macteenbooks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MacTeenBooks<\/a> site Friday, October 21<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Roaring Brook is <strong>down-pricing the ebook<\/strong> of <em>Birthmarked<\/em> for a limited time around the release of <em>Prized<\/em>.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure exactly when that will begin, but it\u2019s supposed to be a significant bargain once it occurs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cTortured,\u201d<\/strong> a story between <em>Birthmarked<\/em> and <em>Prized<\/em>, will be e-published for free sometime soon for readers who want to know a bit more about Leon. \u00a0I&#8217;ll add a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tor.com\/stories\/2011\/12\/tortured\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a> as soon as I have one.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on Tuesday, November 8<sup>th<\/sup>, I\u2019ll be having a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/generalbooks.bookstore.uconn.edu\/event\/book-launch-prized-caragh-o\u2019brien\" target=\"_blank\">launch<\/a><\/strong> at the UConn Coop, my favorite local indie bookstore, and
