Writers at Amity Regional High School, Woodbridge, CT, October 29, 2015

It was a great pleasure for me to visit Amity Regional High School last week and exchange ideas with students about how and why we write. It was clear from the minute I met the students that they were genuinely fascinated by the writing process, and throughout our workshop, they were honest and respectful about each other’s work. I was impressed and inspired by their creativity, generosity, and willingness to take risks. Many thanks to the students, and to librarian Cara McConnell for inviting me and welcoming me so warmly. I am especially grateful to the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation for sponsoring my visit, and for the honor of continuing Jamie’s legacy. I’ll cherish my memories of this shared afternoon among fellow writers.
