Blue Bicycle Books in Charleston, SC, welcomed Marie Rutkoski, Ann Aguirre and me for our final stop in the Fierce Reads Tour yesterday.  We had a great moderator, librarian Andria Amaral from the Charleston County Public Library, who asked us thoughtful questions about our fierce characters, and let us go off on tangents about scary clowns and the way we’ve teased each other on tour.

It was a special way to… Continue reading

A Fierce Weekend

At RJ Julia Bookseller's

At RJ Julia Bookseller’s

This weekend found the Fierce Reads Tour at two more great independent bookstores: R.J. Julia Booksellers in Madison, CT, and Towne Book Center & Café in Collegeville, PA.

At R. J. Julia’s, Kathy welcomed us warmly around the rustic wooden table and moderated a lively discussion with plenty of input from attendees. We were especially happy to have a young gentleman reader, Dean, and his family with us. He was a big fan of Marie’s, with proof that he had corresponded with her back when… Continue reading

The Fierce Reads Tour stopped in Exeter, NH last night for some lively conversation and laughs.  Beforehand, blogger Lauren James of Love is Not a Triangle tossed us some fun questions, like which were-animals our characters would be.  Then we headed over to Water Street Bookstore, where Dan Chartrand welcomed us warmly.  One reader had come all the way from Maine for the event, and everyone was… Continue reading

A Little Planning Ahead: Book Tour

Yes, SweeTarts Bears do exist.

Yes, SweeTarts Bears do exist.

Excuse me. I’m rather consumed with my copy edits. They’re due Thursday, like in three days, so I’m pretty much focused exclusively on my book.  It’s like having my own private time zone that no one else can enter, where we speak our own language and eat bear candies that taste like SweeTarts and talk to ourselves in the third person.

But at the same time, I’m also super excited because I’ve just seen the poster for the book tour I’m going on this… Continue reading

Photo Essay of a Fierce Reads Tour

From October 16-21, 2012, Genn Albin, Leigh Bardugo, Marie Rutkoski and I spoke each day at a library or bookstore in a different city.  We visited Gurnee, IL; Bethesda, MD; Columbus, OH; Oxford, MS; Haverford, PA; and New York City, NY.

Our panels began with each of us briefly introducing our books, and then we answered questions. First stop: the Warren Newport Public Library in Gurnee, IL.

We spent a lot of time traveling. Media escorts would meet our planes and drive us to our hotels and events. En… Continue reading
