The Vault of Dreamers, with Cover!

A cover!  Yay!  The cover art for The Vault of Dreamers was created by Beth Clark on the team at Macmillan, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.  It’s creative, risky, chilling, and inviting all at once.  I keep staring at the flame-like, electrical colors in the iris.  I also think it’s going to be striking to see two covers side by side, when a pair of eyes will be looking out at us.

The cover was revealed Friday on Goodreads, which is running a giveaway, too!  Here’s the description:

From the author of the Birthmarked trilogy comes a fast-paced, psychologically thrilling novel about what happens when your dreams are not your own.

The Forge School is the most prestigious arts school in the country. The secret to its success:  every moment of the students’ lives is televised as part of the insanely popular Forge Show, and the students’ schedule includes twelve hours of induced sleep meant to enhance creativity. But when first year student Rosie Sinclair skips her sleeping pill, she discovers there is something off about Forge. In fact, she suspects that there are sinister things going on deep below the reaches of the cameras in the school. What’s worse is, she starts to notice that the edges of her consciousness do not feel quite right. And soon, she unearths the ghastly secret that the Forge School is hiding—and what it truly means to dream there.

  • LOVE the cover! I love these kinds of covers in general. The kind that are simplistic for the most part, but with a key detail—in this case the iris and radar.

  • Petra ~ Thanks! I’m so glad you like it! It’s the simplicity that appeals to me, and which also makes it seem risky to me. It is so different from most other YA covers I’ve seen lately, but since the book takes chances, it’s completely right that the cover takes chances, too.
    All best,
